A Little Information
Appropriately named for its early history of pirates, Indians and buried treasure, the barrier island community known today as Treasure Island served as home to the mound builders known as the Timucuan Indians and pirates seeking sanctuary from the sea.
Treasure Island is one of the whitest sand beaches in Florida. Whether you like to lie out and bake under the hot Florida sun, stroll across the nearly mile long boardwalk on the sand or enjoy the heat under a cool beach umbrella this beach is a must visit when coming to St. Petersburg. Maybe you’re the type who likes to get all wet and jump in the water you surely can have fun catching some waves on a surfboard (well you can at least try), rent a Jet Ski or the old fashioned style and just swim.
Florida’s beaches have so much to offer not only do you get to work on that tan of yours but you also get to relax and be stress free at least for the few hours while you’re there. Another wonderful thing about going to the beach is you get to see amazing wildlife. From pelicans to those ever so annoying sea gulls to sting rays, you get to see a bit of everything. Just remember two things when coming to visit Treasure Island or any beach in Florida always bring sunscreen to protect your beautiful skin and shuffle your feet for those sting rays, don’t want to get stung you know!
